Guidance for Candidates: Using AI in Job Applications
AI tools can be helpful tools when applying for roles, here is some guidance so you can make the most of them while staying authentic and ethical.
Acceptable Use
Candidates may use AI tools to:
- Assist with grammar, spelling, and formatting of application materials.
- Generate ideas or structure for CVs.
- Research role-related information or industry trends.
- Prepare for interviews through simulated Q&A or practice scenarios.
- Ask for feedback on your answers or help structuring STAR responses.
Unacceptable Use
Candidates must not use AI tools to:
- Fabricate qualifications, experience, or achievements.
- Submit application materials entirely generated by AI without personal input or review. Your unique personality, motivation, and insights are what make you stand out.
- Misrepresent identity or impersonate another individual.
- Use AI-generated responses during live assessments or interviews.
Consequences of Misuse
Your application and assessment are to learn about you and if you are the right fit for the role and our organisation, therefore you should only use AI to enhance your application. If it is identified that you have solely relied on AI or misused AI tools to secure a job offer, it may result in:
- Withdrawal from the recruitment process.
- Withdrawal of a job offer.
- Reporting of misconduct for internal candidates.
