The Constabulary is offering an exciting opportunity to join our Finance department and study studying towards a qualification with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).
The Constabulary
For 2025/26, the Constabulary has a gross revenue budget of £313m, a capital budget of £39m and, at the end of March 2025, employed 2,342 police officers, 160 Police Community Support Officers and 1,588 Police Staff. The Constabulary is involved in a number of exciting projects and changes to ensure the organisation is fit for the future, include the completion of the new £70m HQ site. Lead by a new Chief Officer team, this is an exciting time to work for the Constabulary.
The Role
The Finance department forms a critical function in the organisation to ensure that funding is best utilised to provide the best quality policing service to the people of Hertfordshire.
We will offer successful applicants a wide range of experiences through a variety of placements across the finance function from budget setting to producing the statement of accounts.
Successful applicants will be funded to achieve a Level 3 AAT qualification (with the option to extend to Level 4) through Apprenticeship Levy funding which includes 20% off the job training. In addition, applicants will be required to study in their own time in order to pass exams and progress through the qualification.
Location
The role will be based at Titan Court in Hatfield, with a mixture of home and office-based working.

Successful candidates will have or be predicted to attain at least 4 GCSEs graded 4-9/A-C (or equivalent) including Maths and English, have a passion for Public Sector finance and the drive to be a part of an evolving Finance department fit for the future of Policing. Shortlisted candidates will be required to pass a verbal and numeracy reasoning test prior to being invited to demonstrate that they meet the essential entry requirements through a presentation and interview.
