Working within Joint Protective Services (Scientific Services Unit), this is an exciting and challenging opportunity to provide an accessible and resilient service supporting local investigations for Bedfordshire Police and Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Constabularies. You will support the Forensic Alliance in achieving its objectives by analysing forensic media to assist investigations and provide evidential material for submissions in Court.

You will report to the Forensic Imaging Supervisor, and you will be part of a team of 4 Forensic Imaging Analysts, making footage from CCTV and Media systems of suspects and incidents available to investigators and Criminal Justice partners for expeditious disposal of cases. Processing and editing various video footage from a variety of sources. Utilising professional editing software. and carry out downloads and retrieval of CCTV systems from across the three counties. This role will also involve extensive liaison with case officers to ensure that the case work is carried out in a timely manner and in accordance with ISO 17025. .

 The successful candidate will be based at WGC and this is a full time permanent position

The successful candidate should have current experience and understanding of investigative and Criminal Justice processes; knowledge of CCTV or other digital image capture systems or the aptitude to learn; the ability to understand and apply relevant legal requirements, keeping up to date with changes to the law, case law, codes of practice and statutory guidance, and the ability to maintain accurate records and statistics on electronic databases. The ability to travel across all three forces is also required and therefore you must have access to your own vehicle. There is also a requirement to be able to view and manage graphic and sensitive material.

You will be required to have the following:

  • A Degree in media technology or a similar field, or equivalent experience (at least 3 years) in the fields of video production, media presentation or imagery
  • Must have a good standard of written and verbal communication for correspondence and reports and be able to speak to people face to face and over the telephone clearly and
  • Full UK Driving
  • Ability to operate word processing
  • Have the ability to be public facing and adept at dealing with distressed or traumatised individuals who are victims of
  • Ability to view and deal with scenes of violence, death and Forensic Post Mortems without undue
  • Able to communicate clearly with Police Officers, Crime Scene Co-ordinators, Home Office Pathologists and other Professional
  • Good colour vision.
  • The post holder may be required to work from different locations other than the home
  • The post holder may be required to work additional hours but this will be agreed in advance in conjunction with management and the post
  • A General understanding of Health & Safety practices and COSHH
  • Vetting required, as advised by the vetting
  • The post holder will be expected to undertake training as and when
  • The post holder will be expected to comply with health and safety

  • Before commencement of this appointment, this role is subject to medical assessment. For some roles health screening or surveillance may be required on a regular basis, as identified by line manager risk assessments.
